John Greene Chandler Memorial Antique toy and book museum was located in South Lancaster, Massachusetts. It was housed in a unique three story building which was moved to its location from the center of Lancaster. The founder of the museum, Herbert H. Hosmer Jr. was an avid collector or antique toys, games, paper dolls, puppets, and children's books. He also had a collection of old doll houses which were displayed from his home which he called 'Racketty Packetty' Doll House Museum. Mr. Hosmer was most recognized as the director and master puppeteer of his 'Toy Cupboard' Puppet Theater, which also operated from his property. Unfortunately, upon his passing in 1995, his dream of the continuation of his puppet theater and museum was dismissed by the executor of his estate. All of his co...
I love finding nice things that need a little work to bring them back.I bought this old lamp at an antique shop for a good price. One reason it was cheap was because it needed to be rewired. In this video, I show the steps I took to bring this quality lamp back to life. It should last another 100 years now. Check out Sundial Wire on the internet to find replacement wiring parts. If you're going to go through the trouble of a job like this then it makes sense to get the correct looking parts. I hate the look of old electric things with brand new plastic wires coming from them. http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?icep_ff3=11&pub=5575168947&toolid=10001&campid=5337864703&customid=&icep_store=terminal99&ipn=psmain&icep_vectorid=229466&kwid=902099&mtid=824&kw=lg - Link to my termi...

One of the original "kit lathe" concepts, this 1800's era lathe was a Craigslist find that i was able to collect FOR FREE!! all cast iron components, this antiques lathe was sold as a kit that the buyer would build their own frame for, and make to their desired length. i would suspect that this kit was marketed as a DIY lathe or a Home made lathe. similar machines at the time were sold with the intention of the buyer finishing the work either by making a bend, base or in this case the entire lathe bed. Sometimes even I can get lucky!! I did have to drive 2 hours each way to get it, but it was well worth the effort, particularly for the price. all of the components are well built and HEAVY, which makes since since its all cast iron. you can see in the video that it took a bit of effor...
